It's important to be prepared with the appropriate travel documentation prior to crossing a border. Note that as of January 31, 2008, the United States requires ALL travellers to present documents to enter the country. The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) is a U.S. law that requires all travellers, including U.S. and Canadian citizens, to present a valid passport or other approved secure document when travelling to, or through, the United States from within the western hemisphere, regardless of mode of travel.
