Rapid Transit Projects
TransLink is currently implementing the Evergreen Extension which connects Coquitlam and Port Moody to Burnaby and Vancouver.
TransLink is also advancing two rapid transit projects to provide fast, frequent and reliable service in Vancouver on the Broadway Corridor to Arbutus St. and in Surrey along King George Blvd., 104 Ave. and Fraser Highway. These rapid transit projects are intended to both serve existing demand in high-ridership areas and to help shape demand for travel and improve service across our integrated network of bus, SkyTrain, SeaBus and West Coast Express.
In June 2014, the Mayors' Council on Regional Transportation presented a 10-year transportation vision for Metro Vancouver. The Vision identifies technologies and alignments for rapid transit. Along Broadway, the Millennium SkyTrain Line would be extended west from VCC–Clark to Arbutus St., providing a connection with the Canada Line at Broadway–City Hall Station; and in Surrey, 27 km of Light Rail Transit service would be introduced on King George Blvd. and 104 Ave. between Guildford, Surrey City Centre and Newton, and on Fraser Highway between Langley, Fleetwood, and Surrey City Centre.
